Carmel Clay Reads 2017 Begins

March 1, 2017
9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

As part of the library's Investigate: Science and Technology programming theme, the Carmel Clay Public Library has chosen the book Spare Parts: Four Undocumented Teenagers, One Ugly Robot and the Battle for the American Dream by Joshua Davis as the first 2017 Carmel Clay Reads title.

This nonfiction title is the amazing story of a group of Mexican immigrant teenagers and two supportive teachers in Phoenix. With little money, they build an underwater robot and enter competitions until finally they compete with the best of the best with incredible results. Even if you aren't interested in robots or robotic competitions, the book provides plenty of human drama in this story of hope. As one reviewer said, "{the book} is both heartwarming and heartbreaking."

Books will be available for checkout in the main lobby of the library beginning March 1. Carmel Clay Reads 2017 ends April 30.
